If you can't change the rules, challenge them, rules are made to be broken
Up yours Fleexy!
Up yours Fleexy!
So it seems. But it's not the UnFleexable from the past. This is a new guy, and judging by his blog, someone quite young.
Welcome Fleexy, if you see this post.
Welcome Fleexy, if you see this post.
My newest mod - Commander Keen: Sunset: viewtopic.php?t=8568 | codename H.Y.E.N.A.
Yeah welcome!
But if you're really as young as you look like, to me its kind of creepy that you're intereted in hexadecimal and know about how to cite with spelling errors ([sic!]) I didn't learn about that until I went to university...
Well I guess kids grow up differently these days.

You crack me up little buddy!
Thanks all,
Yes, I am fairly young. I just turned 10 . I first started programming at six when I would slightly modify my dad's BASIC programs; changing colors and counter variables. Now I can make full-blown QuickBASIC programs and have started tinkering with Visual BASIC. I have some experience in GW-BASIC, but I'm better with QuickBASIC. I started keening at/around age five. I first started modding last year with a Keen 1 level pack. It was never finished because most levels crashed the game on account of there being so many enemies. I decided to make a mod. It is so hard so far most people end up -ing.
You are correct, I am not Unfleexable. At first Fleexes gave me bad dreams. Now I simply adore them.
That cat picture on my blog is Oreo. There are mostly misc. things on my blog including -ing.
My parents read and approve everything I put on the internet.
You can download beta release two of my mod here. Thank you all again for positive comments and tools for modding. I find this site helpful and encouraging. Please visit my blog by clicking the "WWW" button at the footer of my post.

No way, for being 10 you type a lot better than most people. This goes to prove that there are some people who were never noob and there is absolutely no excuse for being a noob.Fleexy wrote:Yes, I am fairly young. I just turned 10 .
Or that statement could nullify what I just said.Flaxy wrote:My parents read and approve everything I put on the internet.
Try coding in C++, BASIC is dated. Stay away from Java. Even though C++ and Java are similar, Java is slow, unorganized and crap.

You type much better and obviously think through your posts with much more care and consideration than the supposed "13 years of age or older" members of Gamefaqs and the like. I didn't start learning to program until I was around 14 (but my dad showed me some stuff when I was 10 and I didn't understand it very well).
I think you're the youngest Keener here. It's great to see that not all kids are completely detatched and oblivious to the awesomeness of 90's games due to the disgusting overcomercialism of what the game industry is now. But I digress. Welcome to the Keen Boards!

I think this right here explains the high-quality writing:
QBasic FTW!!
More unsolicited advice: If you're using with Visual Studio 2005 or newer for Visual Basic, try your hand at C#. It's like making the easy stuff from VB work on top of the more powerful stuff in C++.

I recently turned 17 and I'm so confused about the modding too, I just don't seem to learn.matonen wrote:10? And already modding?! Im 14 and i havent even thought about modding yet!
God i feel so dumb right now.
I don't only feel dumb, I am dumb. Pretty sad.
But well, I try too look at myself as the more creative type of person. I'm more that guy who writes stories and plot-twists, creates characters, composes music, designs levels and gameplay rather than programming it.. I hope it'll suffice once I'm in the gaming industry...
Welcome, Fleexy!
Thanks again for all the encouraging words, guys! I feel very welcomed here . I've learned to appreciate all members. Some know lots of coding; some like level design; some are big picture creator types; and some know lots of languages. When everyone shares ideas, big things can happen . I'm having a lot of fun here. Oh, and:
I'm LMHO!! (If you don't know, LMHO means Laughing My Head/Helmet Off )
Thanks again, guys
