OK, phpBB is now on board with the domain change. The old domain redirects (302 for the moment) to pckf.com, which is where I'm posting this from. Since the domain move will log everyone out anyway, I also took the opportunity to switch cookies over to secure-only. It should be OK now to change external links back to pckf.com, but just in case there are lingering surprises I'm gonna wait a bit before making the redirects 301. Please let me know if there are any issues.

It looks like it's loading a bit slower than before, but other than that no problems so far.

No issues for me just yet, I'll keep an eye out for any.

Was able to get on this site just now. Had a broken certificate, untrusted connection and all that before.
Cheers

First there's secure connection, and a moment later it is gone, the ssl needs to be a green padlock in firefox all the time, logged in and out and it is not always not secure

!Attention!
Malvineous spotted a possible domain misconfiguration.
he infromed me about this after I updated all links to https://pckf.com. you can find the conversation over here as well: http://www.shikadi.net/keenwiki/User_talk:Nisaba
Malvineous wrote: Hey I just noticed you changed the URL for the PCKF but https://pckf.com just redirects in an endless loop for me, and ends up on Andy Durdin's server saying the forum will be down for a few hours, but it's been saying this for a day now. Is that correct?
Nisaba wrote: Hey, the pckf.com domain situation changed. Apparently VitaminZach did at some point along the line get the name servers updated. this means that Fleexy now controls the display of https://pckf.com. He 302/301 all pckf.rigeltechnical.com URLs to pckf.com.
As things are going well on my end, I'd suggest to maybe try flushing your DNS cache?
Malvineous wrote: Thanks for the info. Upon investigation, it looks like the domain might be misconfigured, two of the nameservers are returning the wrong IPs:

Code: Select all

$ whois pckf.com
   Domain Name: PCKF.COM
   ...
   Name Server: DNS1.NAMECHEAPHOSTING.COM
   Name Server: DNS2.NAMECHEAPHOSTING.COM
   Name Server: NS1.AFRAID.ORG
   Name Server: NS2.AFRAID.ORG

$ dig +nocmd +noall +answer @dns1.namecheaphosting.com pckf.com
pckf.com.               1200    IN      A       198.54.115.242
$ dig +nocmd +noall +answer @dns2.namecheaphosting.com pckf.com
pckf.com.               1200    IN      A       198.54.115.242
$ dig +nocmd +noall +answer @ns1.afraid.org pckf.com
pckf.com.               3600    IN      A       67.23.1.86
$ dig +nocmd +noall +answer @ns2.afraid.org pckf.com
pckf.com.               3600    IN      A       67.23.1.86
I'm getting the 67.x.x.x IP which endlessly 301 redirects. Shame the rigeltechnical.com URL was forwarded already, because it means there's no backup method for accessing the forum in case anything like this happens to one of the domains!

Ah, it looks like the two old nameservers are still there, so sometimes clients will ask the old (wrong) ones, and sometimes they'll ask the new ones, which will give the correct answer. Fortunately, we're still in the 302 phase, so I just disabled the redirect for now and will contact VitaminZach to get the DNS fully ironed out. The PCKF is once again accessible at pckf.rigeltechnical.com; pckf.com might also work if you're lucky.

Well my browser threw a fit. Good thing it's over now.

OK, thanks to VitaminZach, the extra nameservers have been removed. Queries for pckf.com will now always return the new address and therefore show this forum. The redirect is again in place, but still 302. Let me know if there are any issues, and if you're completely unable to access the PCKF, you can hop on Discord, post in General on Keen Modding, or e-mail me (my username at KM).

All looks good now. BTW any idea how to fix the smiley URLs in the RSS feed? If you look at https://pckf.com/app.php/feed then the code for the smileys looks like this:

Code: Select all

<img class="smilies" src="./.https://pckf.com/images/smilies/emotikeen-garg.gif" width="23" height="31" alt=":garg" title="Garg">
Which doesn't work because of the "./." at the start of the URL. Any idea whether it can be fixed, or is it a bug in the forum software?

Unfortunately that appears to be a phpBB bug. There are several solutions in that thread, so I'll need to make sure that they don't break anything and then apply one to our installation if appropriate.

Oh nice find. Don't worry about it too much, it's only the smileys that are broken - I just thought it might be a simple fix, but sounds like it's a bit more involved!
