Netkeen game server

Post by MoffD »

Hi all.

I was looking around for an alternative to running Netkeen through various people's websites or port forwarding routers with direct connections and eventually I found this: www.classicgamingarena.com
Has anyone tried this before? I thought it looked interesting because the website specifies dos gaming. (Although you need to signup for it)

Discuss! :dopekeen

Edit:Appears to only work with specific games (netkeen not included) but does anyone know how it runs?

Maybe we should contact them to include it.

Maybe someone should take the source code, port it to a modern OS, and then make an actual netkeen server :o

Update!
MoffD

I have added NetKeen to the site. It's listed as NetKeen. When creating
a game room you can select the maximum number of players and the extension
to use. I tested out on the LAN here and it runs great. Let me know how
it works out over the net.

Just a couple of notes. I'm still working on the site and plan to
overhaul the site in the near future and a couple of things that do not
exist are chat in the game room windows and the room options are not
visible. But those things are coming I have to redesign the site first.
Other than that the system works as it should.

I just noticed that Joe had registered an account, but hadn't activated it (perhaps his spam filter chucked the email out). Either way, it's now activated.

Moved to Unofficial Keen Games, since it doesn't really belong in classics.

A spammer bumped this thread but I'm glad they did. Someone (sorry, I cannot remember who) recently asked how to set up a game and I don't think anyone mentioned this option. I'm bumping it myself as a reminder and in the hopes whoever it was who asked sees it.
Keening_Product was defeated before the game.
