if we should decide to mod Keen 2 for the next level pack, I'd vote for a light switch feature, which flips unseen tiles into solid tiles and vice versa.

Agree that for the next one there should be some small difference, like an extra tile of some kind. Or anything else.

This is a fascinating one! I for one I'm interested in seeing what people would come up with heavy use of 'bridges'.

Oh yes, I didn't even think of the possibilities of patching. Yes, this sounds like a great idea.

Ah, I didn't even realize Nisaba wasn't talking about ordinary bridges. :lol Now I understand, that's a pretty cool idea! For example tiles 100 and 200. If flipping switch, all 100 tiles become 200 and all 200 tiles become 100 simultaneously. I can imagine that allowing pretty devious designs.

It'd be like he toggle walls in Chip's Challenge.


For Keen 2 I think a pack that involves the Scrub sprites would do nicely, everything else can be done in Keen 1 or 3, but the Scrubs are unique to Keen 2. They're basically a mobile block that the player can stand on and they have MASSIVE utility for block puzzle or getting over hazards. If it doesn't utilize the scrub, it shouldn't be Keen 2. Heck I'd boycott a challenge that left the poor guys out!

How about:

Create a Keen2 level that only uses these tiles:
*144 for the invisible border around level
*143 gray background tile
*331 solid red rectangle
*241-244 hazard square
*for exit, use tiles 481 and 494 to form the teleporter (it will be patched to finish level)
*you can use scrub sprites

No other sprites except for the Keen starter sprite.
No collectibles or ornaments, nothing but the tiles mentioned above.
Only one exit in the level.
Player will have pogo, infinite lives, and the teleporter exits the level (as mentioned).
