Where did you put them and how were they packaged? Compressed? Uncompressed?

I'm not sure how android folder structure works, but have you put them in a /games subfolder?

bit lazy for typing, so here it comes from the readme: :-P

Code: Select all

Setting up the data of the game:

 * Copy the directory of the games to the "games" subdirectory of CG.
If you own the registered versions, you can play all episodes,
otherwise download the shareware version and copy them there.
You also can use mods. If you have a bundled version,
you already should be able to play episodes 1 and 4, as they are in that directory.
If you connect your Android Device to the PC normally you find a directory a path called like
   "/Android/data/net.sourceforge.clonekeenplus/files/games".
Copy the games there were the shareware versions are and you should be fine.

 * If you want to use some patched mods just copy them as separate games to that path as well

 * Go into the root directory and start CG. If you have downloaded
the binary version of Commander Genius (for Windows, Linux32/64), then you
will find the executable in the root directory of the extracted game.
Under Linux it is called "CommanderGenius", under Windows "CGenius.exe".

 * If you want improved sounds and music, just download the High Quality Pack (HQP).
Read that readme of HQP for more information in how to use those resources.
Using HQP you might have to copy some resources to the specific game directory so
CG would detect it. For example you might want to copy ck1tiles.bmp to ./games/keen1/

Having fun developing stuff...

Keen 2 not showing

Post by Shaneh »

I am using the Android version of Commander Genius. I copied the Keen 2 game files to a new folder I put here:

\Phone\Android\data\net.sourceforge.clonekeenplus\files\games\keen2

An image of the game files I have can be found here

After doing that I run the Commander Genius App and it doesn't pull through the new keen2 game. Is there a step that I may be missing. According to the exert of the walkthrough above I have done everything that I need to but keen2 still doesn't seem to pull through.

That should be working. Did you create those directories manually, or did CGenius do it?

Do you know which version of Keen 2 you have? Version 1.31 is what I use.

I created the keen2 directory and put the game files in it. CGenius created the keen4 and keen1 directories which are also in that games folder. Was CGenius meant to create the keen2 folder for me somehow? Could I maybe be missing a file that CGENIUS looks for to determine that the game is a valid episode of keen or not?

I will have to check the version number of my keen2 and get back to you.

I don't fully understand what the problem is.

How it should work:
CGenius comes bundled with keen 1 and 4 because those are shareware and free to be distributed.
Once installed CGenius has a keen1 and a keen4 directory in its games folder.
In the same manner you can yourself add other games to that /games folder, for example keen2, by just creating a folder there and putting all game files into that folder. In theory CGenius should recognize all available keen 2 versions.

What did you do? did you do it the same or did you do it differently? what port of CG are you using?

I did as you said: I created a folder keen2 and put the game files into it but CGenius is not picking it up when I run it. Is there a log file that perhaps I could check out to see where it might be failing?

Have you tried it with a different port of CG? (such as Windows)

Also, does CG work with all versions of Keen 2 or only 1.31?

1.31 is what I use, but I know CGenius Android was finicky about some Goodbye Galaxy versions.. they should still show up though, regardless.

I worked out my problem - I had put the Keen2 trial version's game files instead of the full version's game files into the CGenius games folder. Once I replaced the files CGenius picked it up beautifully. I suppose the exe would have been different and therefore not picked up. Thanks for your help everyone!
