The new new music thread

Post by entropicdecay »

Thought I'd re-revive a fairly long-running thread from the old board. So, what albums have you acquired recently?

I've recently bought:

Merzbow - Pulse Demon
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Grand Opening and Closing
Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein
Mr. Bungle - California

Fantômas - Delìrivm Còrdia

Other stuff I've bought slightly less recently:

The Mars Volta - Tremulant

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick

Can't wait to come out:

The Mars Volta - The Bedlam in Goliath (January 29, 2008)

Lucky.

I don't know if anything significant has ever come out on my birthday. Well, Myst IV came out the day before my birthday. Umm ... CommanderSpleen came out on my birthday, but a few years before me.

I also heard it was going to come out the day before my birthday. Maybe the date wasn't finalised at the time.

I think it's released a day earlier in Europe.

[edit] ... than in the US. Sorry about the United-States-ocentric point of view, I can't help it!

Ah, in that case maybe it'll be out the day before my birthday where I am, since I'm in the UK

Ah, yes, good idea.

How do you like that Merzbow's, elec? :british

Here's my latest. Some of them quite recently released, others earlier in the history. Not counting few singles. :dopekeen
Assemblage 23 - Failure (and Early, Rare, & Unreleased -- one of 1000, limited pressing!)
Diary of Dreams - Nekrolog 43 (very good album)
The Chemical Brothers - Exit Planet Dust
The Offspring - Splinter
The Offspring - Conspiracy of One
Nightwish - Dark Passion Play (yeah, I've said I don't like Nightwish, I still don't like their older stuff, but I like the new stuff with the new singer)

Gamma Ray - Heading for tomorrow
Running Free - Pill of skulls
Dio - Sacred heart
Rush - Roll the bones
Nightwish - Dark Passion Play (not sure if I like this album)

I've stoped buying music, simply becouse I've metamorphosed into a pirate.

But, well, the last album I buyed was "Final Fantasy IX OST" (OST = Original SoundTrack), I believe.

Have you heard Dark Passion Play yet, Djaser? Or only ordered it but haven't received it yet? I think it's massive, it sounds just great. If there are more bands that use orchestra like this, and I'm sure there are but I just don't know them, someone tell me some names!

I gave it a few spins but I'm not sure yet. I think I don't like the first half of the album much but the second half is better. I need to give it a few more listens.

Are you sure you don't like their previous albums and is this solely because of the singer?

I haven't heard much of the older material, and some songs I've heard have sounded good, the music, but I really can't stand the old singer's voice, I don't like it.

I bought Ween - La Cucaracha last weekend. It's great. Also, I went to the Youmacon anime convention the other day to see Lemon Demon in concert and bought the album Damn Skippy so that I could have something to get signed by the band.
