[released] SplitWolf 1.0

Post by DoomJedi »

After too many public betas for too long, here finally comes SplitWolf 1.0 from "Team RayCast" - full release of the only SplitScreen 2-player coop engine for Wolf3D, this time with many new special coop game modes (in addition to classic coop play) and interactive features (including MG42 and 2-player armored vehicle) to add endless replay value and fresh tactic gameplay to classic Wolf3D/Spear maps. So grab a friend and enjoy classic maps like never before!
Game Modes include Instagib, Carry the Flag, Harvester and many others.

Wow, really cool! So this is basically does for Wolf3D what Netkeen did for Keen, right?

I will definitely try this out.

No, NetKeen was online multiplayer.
And it was deathmatch, not cooperative play.

SplitWolf is splitscreen coop 2-player engine (offline - both players on the same computer, not over internet). Like many old splitscreen DOS games, like Lotus III Ultimate Challenge

Hopefully we'll get to online play too :) It might take time to implement.
This is a good coding and art engine to base such an effort on.

If I could say one minor criticism about SplitWolf, I think the controller support is not quite up to modern standards. If possible, I think there should be options for the turning sensitivity as well as making the left stick movement only and the right stick for turning.

Oh yeah, it's pretty damn awesome. I was thinking that Blzut would have had a released multiplayer Wolf3D first.

Who knows, we might beat him at online multiplayer too :)
It might take time for us though.
