Wow, nice. I never got far with customising i3, but seeing that makes me want to try again.
If you are concerned with threads dying, you should show the Linux adventures thread some love

How much can I pay you to make you record the whole process?MoffD wrote:I'm contemplating Gentoo

Edit: Just kidding, of course I'd mount and format properly

btw, I'm looking for a clean and simple image viewer like JPEGView (WINE compatible). any hints and tips?
EDIT: or can someone please help me compiling its source code for a Unix/Linux based system? it's written in C++.

The local Hampton Inn is having a bit of a sign malfunction - the H has burnt out.

This is probably a very long shot, but does anybody here have some experience with Haskell? Specifically I'm interested in its real world usability in making stuff such as TUI/GUI programs.
Began learning it very recently and so far I'm having a blast. It feels so much more solid and clean and educational than any OOP language I know. I'm just worried I won't be able to use it for much else other than maths and data handling, which I barely ever do. :X

If I remember correctly, Haskell is for functional programming (as opposed to imperative programming, like C, Pascal or whatever). Wasn't the idea that if you call the same function with the same parameters more than once, Haskell will only calculate the result once and "remember" it for future uses?Nospike wrote:This is probably a very long shot, but does anybody here have some experience with Haskell? Man, I know I used Haskell less than 10 years ago, but I don't really remember any of it.

Well, I'm still super new to the language myself, but the general gist of it is that any "variables" you declare are immutable. As a pure functional language, it aims to eliminate side effects entirely so that every time you call the same function with the same arguments, you get the exact same result.K1n9_Duk3 wrote:If I remember correctly, Haskell is for functional programming (as opposed to imperative programming, like C, Pascal or whatever). It's also lazily evaluated, so it will avoid evaluating any expressions unless you specifically request it. (This allows infinite range-based lists and stuff... I think?)
I really like it because it's not unnecessarily verbose and makes me feel super smart when I write it.
