Speed play Competition

Post by keenmaster486 »

Maybe this has already been done, but let's do it again if it has!

This is a competition for how fast you can complete a certain level of any of the original Keen games, e.g. Keen 4 level 1 (which is what I'll use for the first contest).

If the poll turns out okay I'll begin the contest with the first entry, which will be in Youtube video form. The timer will start at the beginning of the level entry sound, and will end at the end of the level exit sound. By "complete" I mean A) all the items collected and B) all the enemies stunned if possible (i.e. this doesn't just mean "I shot through the level as fast as possible, skipping a bunch of stuff in the process"). EDIT: And the video has to be shot from DOSBox running at the standard 3000 cycles, 386 CPU emulation since the Galaxy engine does run at slightly different speeds on different machines.

Sound like a good idea?
I flermmed the plootash just like you asked.

Requiring all items to be collected is an interesting addition. I suppose that would mean the secret exit for Keen 4's first level is required? I would be happy to participate in such a competition. (I'm not super speedy, but it would be fun to try!)

Thanks! And yes, the secret exit. The only reason I have any speed on that level is because I've played it about 6000 times :P
I flermmed the plootash just like you asked.

I am submitting my entry so I can be the first outright loser of such a competition.
Keening_Product was defeated before the game.
