Well, for the ones interested, guess that's been a long journey up to the very first release of original source code (even more than one version) for *some* Commander Keen title (although we've had earlier releases close to that, like the Wolfenstein 3D codebase and the recent release of source codes for 3D Catacomb titles).
And I know I shouldn't, but given some post count... well nvm, that's not the important point.
It's great if even one individual learns something new from the code!
ANOTHER EDIT (Sep 17): Also, I don't know if I'll get to do anything. Looks like there have already been a few forks of the repository (or at least specific branches of it). But I have taken a few looks at a few files at the least.

I know I'm greatly interested in porting the game in such a way that maintains everything as-is (bugs, eccentricities, and hacks all) while being playable on modern operating systems. At most, fixing only weirdnesses having not to do with the gamestate itself (such as sound card not being detected at high cycles in DOSBox) would be the goal there. Naturally, this is coming from a speedrunner's perspective, whose desire for game purity is paramount (that is, the port would synchronize with the original once you start a new game).
I've also been trying to look into wolf3d as well, since that has demo recording that can be tested in its synchronicity. But lemme say this isn't an active project, so don't expect anything at all. I'll let people know when I really get started translating and rewriting and stuff.

I've made a start with a port here: https://github.com/sulix/keen-dreams-sdl2, so you're welcome to help out with/steal code from that.
This is so awesome it's getting two topics
Now, please let the Keen 4 source release so that lemm can finally finish the Atroxian Realm code!

What we really should do is make a mod based on Keen GBC, and expand the story a bit. (Call it "Trifecta Trouble".)StupidBunny wrote:^If you really want to get launched into the sun you should say that Keen GBC was the best Keen game

hory cow this happened fast!
I wish it was galaxy but tbh this is still awesome. Anyone have a copy of Borland C++ lying around? I lost mine in a reinstall...
Also, is the SDL version going to have OS specific calls, or be completely cross platform?

I don't know about you, but I'm more suspicious than happy. Even if he really bought the rights, I have not faith in this guy, who:Lunick wrote:http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =315040793 Greenlight
1. made overambitious statements without showing something that actually works. Why he didn't actually made something that works and then run a Greenlight campaign? WTF?
2. have suspicious past;
3. have not shown anything else he was working in the past;
4. post unrelated screenshot from Keen 4 and some random poor quality screenshots from google;
5. who obviously don't put much effort into this by just copy/paste from wikipedia.
