Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

It looks awesome... but... Kailh switches :barf

I *think* it might be possible to find those keycaps on taobao or aliexpress or something similar though. They're standard cherry stem so they should fit any ANSI layout.

Oh man, that's serious. Forget about this then - family and health come first, always, always, always.
Thanks for your update, and good luck with your situation. :)

Re: Level Viewer for KEEN VORTICONS and GALAXY (and more...)

Tinkering with mechanical keyboards is surprisingly easy and fun. :) Took the caps off my old Steelseries 6G to give it a proper cleaning, fitted it with the O-rings that came with my Novatouch, then flipped the spacebar and some mod keys. Goodbye Emacs pinky, forever! Silencing rings do make a worl...

How's this neat project coming along? :) I have to say I can't wait to see the translations.

Re: Linux Adventures

First of all, bspwm is very much clutter-free. It has a short, simple, concise separate config file for the actual WM itself and another one for the keyboard daemon which facilitates the controls. Right out of the box it has a couple great features that I consider very basic that i3 doesn't even hav...

Re: Linux Adventures

So originally I was planning to install Gentoo on this old a$$ laptop, but it just didn't want to work. Can't blame it, really, in the end I decided that the compile times were just too long. (1.86 GHz Celeron and 512 MB RAM master race, yo) I ended up downloading Arch in a hurry and it's actually r...

What do all gardening enthusiasts have in common?

They've never had to trim a binary search tree. :x

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

Come on, there's no large scale derailment at all. The most recent couple pages of "linux" search results only really show about three threads with any major Linux discussion of which two are actually dedicated to the subject, and the third thread is this one.

Re: Linux Adventures

nevertheless I have some issues configuring dmenu to fire up wine programs like photoshop or even abiathar. ($PATH) any suggestions on that? Well, the easiest solution is probably to make a bash script that simply execs your Windows program through wine and then pop that script into your bin direct...

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

Only a VM as of now, but I'm likely getting a rather old (2008 or something) laptop to tinker with soon so I'm going to install it there as well if that happens. I've never used Arch before, no. My daily driver is a desktop running Debian stable, a mistake which I don't intend to repeat. (The system...

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

Hey there fellow Linux master racers! This might seem like humblebrag, but I managed to install Gentoo successfully yesterday and I have to say it seems pretty superb so far. If you want a really open, fast system that's entirely under your control (and has the coolest package manager of all time), d...

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

Any of you guys use Codewars? (link to muh profile for no particular reason) I think it's really neat, great for practicing languages both new and old. The community seems pretty huge and there's plenty of interesting exercises to do, not to mention the sheer number of supported languages. If you wa...

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

I'm afraid I can't really give a concrete answer, and I don't think any kind of easter egg should be mandatory in a game. Though personally I'm a huge fan of developers putting themselves into places you wouldn't expect (like John Romero as the boss of Doom 2) and references to other games made by t...

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

Well, with $125 you can do a lot of things! If you truly want to go the CLICK CLICK CLICK I CAN'T HEAR YA route, you can actually get a real IB- uh, I mean, Unicomp Model M! Just like old times! Ask Moff if you'd like to hear from someone experienced with it. I think he's super happy with his. :) It...
