Re: Need art help for big Keen easter egg/tribute

I'd still add some depth to your cap in the side frames, hard for me to think the cap can be aligned perfectly horizontally for sideview with no depth showing... Ah, yeah, I noticed that. The way I see it, the cap is tilted so that you'd be unable to see its underside from the sides. Though I agree...

Re: Need art help for big Keen easter egg/tribute

Okay, I think I've finished the Mad Mushroom. Click the image to view it in 2x scale. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6111039/Commander%20Keen/Keen%204%20Sprites%20for%20Doom%20Mod/mad_mushroom.png I think what you're missing on the back sprites are the bottom of the stalk. I think he's bending ...

Re: Need art help for big Keen easter egg/tribute

Welp, I started working on one of my favourite creatures - the Mad Mushroom! Not much done yet, but since I'll be out the weekend, I figured I'd show what I've got. What do you think about the lighting/shadowing? I changed the original sprites too to match Doom's general, top-down lighting style. *I...

Re: Need art help for big Keen easter egg/tribute

What size would the creatures' canvases have to be? Also, by 4-directional I assume it's front, back, left and right? Also x2, should they be limited to the 16 EGA colours (or any colours that come close enough that Doom's default palette has) or utilize all 256 colours of the palette? Sorry, I'm co...

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

That reminds me, is it wrong I've always pronounced the "id" in "id software" as "aye-dee", as in "I-D"? I know the official pronunciation and etymology, but my mind is already hardwired to accept only one kind of "id" :dopekeen

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

Doesn't even have to be damaged, I recall at least one crab species declawing themselves in order to fool predators with the detatched, twitching limb. The crabs are able to regenerate those limbs after molting several times. It has been suggested that crabs that perform autotomy (self-declawing) ma...

Re: Songs with cool music videos

I've recently been utterly captivated by outrun/retrowave/synthwave/80s cyberpunk. Here's an example of the visual style, "Accelerated" by Miami Nights 1984. The song itself is not that special, I actually prefer tracks like this or this, but they seldom if ever have music videos.

Re: OFF TOPIC THREAD: Where derailing the thread is impossible!

I love it how we keep discovering more and more advanced features in even the simplest of organisms. It wasn't that long ago when people thought of fish as barely living (and some still do), and now we know many most common fish species are actually pretty intelligent and can into feels . What I'm o...

Re: Happy Arbitrary Moment In Time

I necro'd myself back to life for tonight just to plague the new PCKF! Enjoy the curse, fools! It won't last long! But it will repeat in very long but otherwise-indefinite periods of time! BooOooOoo!

What? What do you mean it's not Hallowe- oh.

Re: Ask an American!

Why do Americans use fitted carpets AND wear shoes indoors (even on couches and beds)? That's the most unhygienic combination I can imagine! Both are awful habits themselves, but together it's just plain disgusting :barf On a completely different note, things like NASA and NOAA are neat, please don'...

Re: Welcome to the migrated PCKF!

Oh wow, this place looks neat. Kudos for the migration! There are a couple of small-but-handy things I miss, though; namely, a quick reply box at the bottom of a thread and a "view new posts since last visit" link/button at the top right next to the notifications*/private messages links. *What's thi...

I'm from Finland and there's slush outside. We've had a couple of pretty lousy winters (snow-cover-wise) in a row now, I really miss downhill skiing :'(

Clever title! A galaxy creating machine, perhaps? The Shikadi have to recreate the galaxy in there own image somehow after unleashing the Omegamatic... To me, the Alphamatic sounds like a huge space station (alpha station) where all Omegamatics (and other VitaCorp products?) are manufactured. Maybe...

Ooooh this is gonna be good. I really like the look of that diagonal hallway with the spindreds and flame hazards. The conveyor belt is also a neat feature, is it possible and do you plan to make it transport Keen faster than in Levellass' preview?
